The author takes us on an epic quest from unknowable darkness to unknowable light. Its familiarity strikes a chord in most of us who have sought the truth in various forms and settled into acceptance that what is seen is only a fraction of what is unseen in the geography of life.
Williams mimics literary styles both current, and of centuries gone by, as he hints of a loose thread running by coincidence (or is it?) in name and situation. He borrows Stephen King's pale stranger clothed in a duster as villain, yet somehow the keystone and answer.
At the end, we are haunted by our own remembrances and regrets, uncertainties and hope. And, the answers lie within the reader.
