Lux Aeternum post-production notesThis page is a place to gather and organize useful information about Lux Aeternum. These are answers to frequent questions and other items that, while optional, could still be useful to those playing the game. LanguagesThere are a myriad of different languages spoken throughout Nexus Sector. The Theocracy has an official language (called Vox Humanis) that is partially compatible with the English spoken by many Newcomers though the theocratic language has a lot of Latin and Arabic mixed in. The Tetrarchy has also put together an official tongue, but they built it from scratch. It is mix of the many Chosen languages but designed for clarity, simplicity, and unambiguity. That language is called "XenoLoqui" or "XL". While none speak it natively, many citizen learn it as a second tongue - particularly those who deal with alien cultures or governmental business. For native languages, the V'la have a single language. The Kyryk have a common base but with a multitude of dialects and different 'accents' from clan to clan. The Draugmoore have two main languages (from the first and second waves - now corresponding the Steel and Song) and many lesser-used ones. The Newcomers have at least a dozen major languages among them. The E'lanari have distinct dialects with similar roots. Synthetics do not have a native tongue but most can communicate in sound patterns that only other Synthetics or computer systems can decipher. Companion CompatibilityTo integrate the Lux Aeternum engines into the Companion vehicle construction systems, the following guidelines can be used:
Note that there are some pieces of equipment in the Companion that have similar names to items in Lux Aeternum ("Pulse Rifles" for example). These items cannot be used as replacements for the items in the Lux setting guide. Be aware of the differences and the usual restrictions on weapon technology in Nexus Sector. The rules for alien environments can be use din place of the ones in the Lux Aeternum setting guide if desired. |
